Overview
The PIN code function enables a controlled handover of your cable.
Responsibility for managing PIN codes and cable handovers lies primarily with fleet management. LOCIO Support assists in exceptional cases.
How does the PIN code work?
Default PIN code
Every cable is assigned a PIN code by default: 0 · 0 · 0 · 0
Fleet management can neither view nor change the PIN code themselves.
However, fleet management can enable company car drivers to change the PIN code (e.g. if the previous PIN has been forgotten).
Company car drivers are expressly encouraged to change the PIN code in order to secure the cable further.
Connecting to a cable
When you try to connect a new or unknown cable, you may be prompted to enter the PIN code.
This step is only skipped if the PIN code is 0 · 0 · 0 · 0.
This prevents a cable belonging to another person from being connected accidentally and someone else's charging sessions from being synced.
Changing the PIN code
When changing the PIN code, the current PIN code must be confirmed.
If the current PIN code is 0 · 0 · 0 · 0, no confirmation is required.
Forgotten your PIN code?
If you have forgotten your PIN code:
Fleet management is the primary point of contact.
Fleet management can:
allow a new PIN code to be set without having to enter the previous one
LOCIO Support can also help, but this is not the intended standard route.
Once the PIN change has been enabled, the company car driver can choose a new PIN code and continue using the cable as usual.
Handing a cable over to another user
If a cable is passed on to another person without being reset beforehand, charging data from the previous user may still be stored on the cable.
To avoid this:
Fleet management can initiate the cable handover process.
Alternatively, Support can also trigger a full reset of the cable data.
In both cases:
All cable data and charging sessions are deleted automatically.
The reset takes place the next time the cable is connected in the app, before any data is synced.
This ensures that the new user starts with a clean cable and that only their own charging sessions are synced.
Summary
The PIN code function ensures a better handover process and prevents accidental data syncs between users.
Managing PIN codes and cable handovers is primarily the responsibility of fleet management, while company car drivers carry out operational changes themselves in the app.
LOCIO Support only assists in exceptional cases.
