Which document should I upload to verify my electricity tariff?

To correctly bill your home charging electricity, LOCIO requires proof of your current electricity tariff. This article explains which documents are accepted, what to look out for – and what to do if you encounter common error messages.

Which document is required?

Please upload your energy supply contract or tariff sheet from your electricity provider. PDF files or clearly legible photos/scans of the document are accepted.

The document must clearly and completely contain the following information:

  • Unit price in ct/kWh (the price per kilowatt-hour consumed) – please enter the value in the format 0.xx, e.g. 0.28 for 28 ct/kWh. Typical values in Germany range between 0.25 and 0.45 €/kWh.

  • Validity period of the tariff (start and end date, or contract start date)

  • Name of the contract holder and supply address

Important: The system automatically checks whether this information is legible and complete. If any of these details are missing, the verification will be rejected.

Common rejection reasons and what you can do

Period not visible

This is the most common rejection reason. The uploaded document does not contain a clear start or end date for the tariff. Solution: Upload a page of your contract that explicitly states the validity period – for example, the order confirmation letter or the tariff overview page.

Document not legible

Photos or scans of poor quality cannot be read. Make sure all text areas are sharp, complete, and not cropped.

Name on the contract does not match

If the electricity contract is in someone else's name (e.g., a spouse or flatmate), please contact LOCIO Support. These cases are reviewed individually.

Gap in the tariff period

If no valid tariff is stored for a specific period, charging sessions during that time will not be calculated and receipts cannot be generated. In this case, you can either adjust the duration of an existing tariff or upload a separate tariff document covering the missing period.

Note on dynamic tariffs

If you have a dynamic electricity tariff (i.e., the unit price changes monthly), you must upload a new proof every month showing the current price and the validity period for that month. For fixed tariffs, no monthly proof is required.

From 2026: Alternative to an individual tariff

Since 1 January 2026, a second billing option is available in Germany: the nationwide average electricity price (based on data from the Federal Statistical Office). With this model, no tariff proof is required.

The choice of billing model is made by your employer or fleet management – and is binding for the entire calendar year. You can see which model is active for you in the LOCIO app under "Profile". If there is no reference to the average electricity price there, billing is based on your individual tariff.

Where can I upload the tariff in the app?

Go to Profile → Electricity Tariff in the LOCIO app and tap "Add tariff" or "Edit tariff". From there, you can upload the document directly and enter the validity period manually.

Still have questions?

If your tariff is rejected despite a correct document, or if charging sessions are not showing any costs, please contact us directly via the chat in the LOCIO app.

Please include the following information:

  • The affected time period

  • A brief description of the issue (e.g., which error message is displayed)
